西浦賀の渡船場から川間方面に少し歩くと、通称「陸軍桟橋」と呼ばれるＬ字型の桟橋があります。太平洋戦争終了後、南方や中国大陸からの引き揚げ者約56万人が、懐かしい日本の地に第一歩を印したところです。 浦賀港の引き揚げの歴史を後世に伝えようと平成18年10月に記念碑が設置されました。
